On completion of his MS in 78, Mr. Eaton became Vice President of Gene
Simons, Inc., a management engineering consulting firm. During his 13-year
tenure, he was responsible for large-scale engineering studies and software
development projects for a variety of public and private institutions. Prior to
that he served as a programmer analyst at
Mr. Eaton joined Novalis Corporation in 1992 as a programmer analyst working on the legacy Health Claims Payment System (HCPS) product to support HMO operations. He was promoted to Manager of Systems Development responsible for developing new functionality in HCPS and EDI, Director of HCPS Development in 1997, and then to Applications Architect in 1998. As Applications Architect, Mr. Eaton was responsible for the applications content and design decisions for the HCPS and MCS systems.
Mr. Eaton came to TriZetto Group through their acquisition of Novalis Inc.
in 1999, following which he coordinated the transition of development and
support to the consolidated development center in
On separation from TriZetto Group, Mr. Eaton did contract work for several Health Care Payers, including Oregon Dental Services 2005-2006 (through Synergy), APS in Silver Spring, MD 2006 (through HP Technologies), and finally MVP Health Care from 2007 through early 2011 (through 3I Infotech) as an IT consultant and developer doing development work surrounding the Facets and other enterprise claims systems, regulatory compliance, web security, and tools development.
Most recently, Mr. Eaton was Enterprise Architect for MVP Health Care from late 2011 through early 2015, working under the Director of Architecture and Strategy. This work built on some of the same themes of the development consulting engagement, but added the responsibilities of Enterprise Architecture help direct and implement long-term goals in terms of applications and project portfolios; major project design and implementation such as the effort to integrate with the ACA Marketplaces, and integrate the data center and applications portfolios with a major acquisition; and internal architectural concerns such as standardizing the architectural practice using The Open Group Architectural Framework, coordinating with non-IT through a Shadow IT Council, and building standard architectural documentation such as roadmaps and capability maps.
Mr. Eaton holds a B.S. and M.S. in Management Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has published on project management technique and management engineering.
From 1990, Mr. Eaton has pursued an interest in Maya Studies, attending conferences and developing a program for archeologists working in the field of MesoAmerican Archeoastronomy.
